Ten years ago, I embarked on my spiritual journey. I was a wife, a mother, a world traveler, and an accomplished entrepreneur, but my soul yearned for a deeper connection with my higher self. Although I had no idea where those first steps would lead, I knew I needed to start moving.
Right from the beginning, I was inundated with concepts and terminology that I had never encountered before. Terms like The Higher Self, The Ancestors, and The Orisa were completely foreign to me.
You see, I was a deacon’s daughter, raised in the church, a religious scholar who had studied at a Catholic university, and an ordained minister. Yet, despite my extensive religious background, this new spiritual language felt like uncharted territory.
But that’s the beauty of a spiritual journey—it’s ever-evolving, full of discoveries that challenge and transform us. Over the years, I’ve traveled to five continents, placing my feet on ancient trade routes that are over 2000 years old. I’ve studied at the feet of wise elders and undergone secret initiations that were both terrifying and transformative. Today, I am a fully initiated Iyanifa of the Osogbo, Nigeria lineage.
In 2019, I founded the Orisa Hoodoo Institute to help descendants of the diaspora connect with ancestral traditions. This membership program is part of that mission.
